How to Save Answers in a Fillable PDF Worksheet
← InsightsBefore completing a worksheet, type one short answer, save a copy, close it and reopen that saved copy. Check that your answer is still there before doing the rest.
Choose the right file
Dishantra supplies print and fillable PDFs with the same learning material. Choose the print version for handwriting or the fillable version for typing into response boxes. A PDF opening successfully does not show that its fields can be edited in your current viewer.
The free Question Detective challenge offers direct PDF links, so you can choose one version without downloading a ZIP. A ZIP is a package containing files; extract it before opening the worksheet.
If your download is a ZIP
Find the completed download in your device’s file manager and extract it into a folder. On an iPhone or iPad, Apple’s Files app can open a ZIP: tap the archive, then open the folder it creates. See Apple’s ZIP instructions.

Do a one-answer check
- Open the file labelled “fillable” in a PDF app that supports form fields.
- Select one response box and type a short answer.
- Use Save or Save a copy. Choose a recognisable filename, such as
fractions-practice-completed.pdf, and note the folder. - Close the document. Find and reopen that saved copy, rather than the original download.
- Check the answer box. Continue only when the answer is still visible.
Adobe’s desktop guidance describes entering information into interactive fields and saving the completed form. Read Adobe’s form guidance. Buttons and menus differ between apps, so use the save-and-reopen check with the app you choose.
If something does not work
The PDF opens, but I cannot type
Check that you selected the fillable version. Save it to your device, then open that file directly in a PDF app rather than relying on an attachment preview. Try a response field before starting the full activity.
My answer disappeared
Check the filename and folder: you may have reopened the original instead of your completed copy. If the saved copy is also blank, stop and repeat the one-answer check in another PDF app that supports saving form fields.
My answer is too long for the box
Keep the key reasoning in the field and use a separate sheet for additional working. Check the saved text and print preview before assuming every line will remain visible on paper.
The ZIP will not extract
Check that the download finished. Download a fresh copy from the same legitimate resource or private purchase-access page. If it still fails, contact support with the filename and the error shown. Do not buy the product again to solve a download problem.
For handwriting and printing
Use the print version. Check one A4 page first, using print preview to fit the page if needed. Look at text size, writing space and the edges before printing the whole pack. Keep an untouched original alongside your completed copy.
