The TRIAD Framework: Find the Need, Work Through It, Choose What Follows
← FoundationsA practical three-part loop for turning an activity into evidence for the next useful step.
A learning resource becomes more useful when it helps a student and parent decide where to begin, makes the student’s reasoning visible and provides a sensible way to choose what comes next. TRIAD is Dishantra’s name for that recurring three-part routine: Find the Need, Work Through It and Choose What Follows. It is a design framework for using our resources, not a clinical assessment or a claim that learning always follows one fixed path.
Find the Need begins with a focused task, readiness check or the free Question Detective challenge. The purpose is to observe what the student understands, how they interpret the question and where support may be useful. One response should not be treated as a permanent label. Look across the explanation, the chosen method and any help used before deciding on a starting point.
Work Through It makes the route to an answer visible. Dishantra activities ask students to select a method, explain why it fits, inspect a mistake, check whether a result is reasonable and try the idea when the wording changes. Worked reasoning is used after an attempt so that it supports reflection rather than replacing the student’s thinking.
Choose What Follows turns completed work into a manageable next decision. The progress snapshot can point to another example, an earlier explanation, a transfer task, a pause or a question for a teacher. The useful next step is not automatically another purchase. TRIAD repeats as understanding develops: the next task creates new evidence, which helps the student and parent decide what support is useful now.
